Marc Lemay Fills in Tonight Live
on Popular Open Mike Show
Lemay Previously Heard on WHAV, WCCM

Marc Lemay, who has been heard locally on WHAV and WCCM, returns to the microphone tonight when he fills in for Jack Bevelaqua on the Open Mike Show, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tonight’s scheduled guests include Jeff Kennedy and Brian Tatter of the newly opened CruiseOne travel agency, 36 Washington Street, Haverhill.

“It’s a pleasure to be able to sit in for Jack while he recuperates, and we all wish him a speedy recovery. I’m honored that WHAV management has given me the chance to get behind the microphone once again to talk about the issues of the day surrounding Haverhill and the Merrimack Valley,” said Lemay.

Lemay got his start in radio as a 13-year-old intern at WALE AM 1400 in Fall River. When the station was sold in 1989, Lemay was there to sign off WALE at 11 p.m., July 19, and sign on again as WHTB the next morning. In 1990, Lemay moved to WHAV when then-Program Director Brian Webster hired him as news director.

After three years at WHAV, Lemay went to work in other areas of communications including Yellow Pages, newspaper publishing, graphic design, television (public access) and Internet.

In 2004, Lemay returned to radio when he joined WCCM. There, he served as afternoon drive host, production director, IT manager, morning show news anchor/co-host and finally morning show host.

Since March, 2007, he has served as public relations/media coordinator for Greater Lawrence Family Health Center.

The WHAV call letters have been associated with local broadcasting since 1947. For five years, the WHAV call has been heard on the Internet at www.WHAV.net and a number of public access cable television stations in Andover, Groveland, Haverhill and Methuen. Low-power AM radio service at 1640 and cell telephone service at www.WHAV.mobi were also recently inaugurated.

Seton is a veteran broadcast journalist who covered Watergate, eight presidential elections, five space missions and produced Barbara Walters’ news interviews. He also won several national awards for his production of ABC’s business-economics news.

After leaving the network, he wrote, produced, directed and reported two award-winning half-hour public television programs, “Mother Nurture” (2002) and “Divorce —Collaborative Style” (2003). His radio credentials include hosting a weekly call-in program on KNRY and directing sales and research at KXTC, both of Monterey, Calif.; hosting “InFormation with Tony Seton” in San Francisco and earning the highest market ratings for his “Newsmaker” interviews and “SetonnoteS” commentaries on KQMS, Redding, Calif. He also filled in as host of the nationally-syndicated “All-American Talk Radio.”

A writer, Seton has published several books, including an industry handbook called “Don’t Mess with the Press / How to Write, Produce and Report Quality Television News” and a how-to guide for interviewing, “The Quality Interview / Getting It Right on Both Sides of the Mic.” He is also an adjunct professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

His “SetonnoteS” — a daily two minute commentary — is heard at 6 and 11 p.m., following the news, on WHAV.

To Be Announced: Dedication of the “Edwin V. Johnson Newsroom” at WHAV. Johnson joined WHAV in 1951, beginning what would be a 34-year career with the station.
