A 10-year-old boy arrested after shooting at school buses with a BB gun must adhere to a 5 p.m. curfew as he awaits his next court appearance.
The Methuen juvenile was taken into custody Wednesday after windows on two school buses transporting Marsh Grammar School students were shot at and damaged by a BB gun. Police believe the boy was in his yard on Pelham Street with the BB gun at the time of the 3:15 p.m. incident.
At his arraignment in juvenile court Friday, the boy was charged with two counts of malicious destruction of property, two counts of disorderly conduct, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a BB gun.
Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office told WHAV that the boy was released to his family and must adhere to a 5 p.m. curfew, among other conditions. Spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan would not comment on if the boy is allowed to return to school.
He is expected in court on Jan. 22 for a pre-trial hearing.
