News Writer/Anchor

Public Media of New England Inc., owner of Haverhill’s highly respected, hyperlocal news website and licensee of WHAV-LP 97.9 FM, is seeking an early morning anchor with newspaper-style writing experience to work two to three hours each weekday morning.

The successful candidate will collect news, write and read three- to five-minute newscasts and post text versions to WHAV.net. Applicants must demonstrate dependability, self-starting skills, commitment to accuracy, tenacity in nailing down stories, strong ethics, excellent English spelling and grammar, exceptional knowledge of AP Style, ability to work well and quickly under deadline pressure, mastery of Microsoft Word, solid PC skills and above-average attention to detail. Abilities to resize photographs in Photoshop, use WordPress, record and edit digital audio and voice news reports are all pluses.

The early morning position requires prior reporting experience. Work on college TV, radio, newspapers or literary publications will be considered.
