Today’s Obituaries: Sandra J. (Pike) Faraci, Formerly of Haverhill

Sandra J. (Pike) Faraci, 68, of Salisbury, formerly of Haverhill, beloved wife of Attorney William S. Faraci passed away last Saturday morning, April 27 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Patricia A. (O’Neil) Pike and the late William C. “Bill” Pike. She attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1975. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a homemaker. Along with her husband, she raised four loving children.

Former Haverhill Police Officer Samuel J. ‘Sammy’ Bonnell Dies at 82

Samuel J. “Sammy” Bonnell, 82, husband of Mary Ellen (Quirke) Bonnell of Haverhill, passed away with his loving wife of 55 years by his side on Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill after a lengthy illness. Bonnell was born in Haverhill to the late Francis and Elizabeth (Zangari) Bonnell. He attended Haverhill High School with the class of 1959, after which he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then went on to become a graduate from Northern Essex Community College, graduating with honors in the Criminal Justice program. For over 23 years, he proudly served the City of Haverhill as a patrolman and detective.  He was a notary public and also served as an Essex County deputy sheriff and constable for the City of Haverhill.

Former 20-Year Haverhill Police Officer, Church Deacon Gaudreau Dies at 87

Deacon Robert J. Gaudreau, 87, of Hampstead, formerly of Haverhill, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15 surrounded by family at Lawrence General Hospital. Born in Haverhill, Robert “Bob” Gaudreau was the son of the late Henry J. and Beatrice V. (Gauthier) Goudreault. He was a four-year member of the Air Force achieving rank of staff sergeant in the years following the Korean War Armistice, serving domestically and abroad in Iceland. He was a 20-year veteran of the Haverhill police department, achieving the rank of sergeant. After retiring he worked for a time at Merrimack College, and was later ordained by the Archdiocese of Boston as a deacon of the Catholic Church.

Visitation Friday for Early WHAV FM Announcer Bob Clinkscale, Who Died at 92

An announcer heard on an early version of WHAV on the FM dial, Robert F. “Bob” Clinkscale, died last week from complications of Alzheimer’s at age 92. Clinkscale was known when he arrived at WHAV in 1959 as “Bob Douglas,” and later moved to Boston television in the 1960s at WBZ and WLVI. He became a regular TV anchor at WCVB in 1972, part of the Eyeopener News. Clinkscale came to WHAV after serving honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard. Early in his career, he was a disc jockey, writer and reporter at multiple radio stations as he built his career in Vermont and Massachusetts.

Today’s Obituaries: Daryl P. Long, 75, Instrumental in Development of Digital’s Minicomputers

GROVELAND—Daryl P. Long, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the home he shared with his wife, Tina (Lucy E.) Fuller. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ, on January 26, 1948, son of the late Alfred and Kathryn Page Long. Daryl graduated from Annapolis High School in 1966. He briefly attended the University of Maryland and was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. Upon returning from Germany, he trained to work in the burgeoning computer industry as a Field Service Representative with Digital Equipment Corporation in Westchester, NY.

AMESBURY—Peter L. Sullivan, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024. He was beloved father of Cambyr S. and Trey U. Sullivan of Amesbury; son of the late Bernadine (O’Gorman) and Paul J. Sullivan of Worcester and Harwich; brother of Paul J. Sullivan and Maureen Hourihan of Brewster; Larry and Lou Ann Sullivan of Lewes, DE; Gail M. Sullivan and Joseph T. LeBlanc of Haverhill; and Jean C. Sullivan and Richard Cane of Stoneham. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Pete earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UMass-Amherst.

Dante L. “Danny” Gobbi, 67, Haverhill Stadium Groundskeeper Superintendent 17 Years

Dante L. “Danny” Gobbi, 67, a lifelong resident of Bradford, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Mass General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Haverhill on Sept. 25, 1956, son of the late Dante O. and Helen (Lovely) Gobbi. Dante was educated at Sacred Hearts School in Bradford and was a graduate of Haverhill High School with the Class of 1975.

Robert P. Stabile, Longtime Composing Room Foreman at Haverhill Gazette, Dies at 83

Robert P. Stabile, 83, of Haverhill, loving husband of Mary E. (Ferrick) Stabile, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was born in Haverhill on July 29, 1940 to Louis P. and Ruby A. (Hebert) Stabile. He was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, class of 1958, after which he went into the printing industry. He worked for many years as the foreman of the composing room at the Haverhill Gazette.
