Autopsy Report Confirms Plaistow, N.H., Woman Found Dead Sunday Was Murdered

An autopsy confirms a 39-year-old Plaistow, N.H., woman who was found dead Sunday was stabbed and murdered. New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall and Plaistow Police Department Chief John Santoro said Wednesday in a joint release that Margaret Jasmin died from “multiple sharp force injuries.” They said the autopsy was conducted by Associate Medical Examiner Abigail Alexander. Dr. Alexander’s report concludes “her manner of death was homicide.”

Officials said Monday 36-year-old Reya N. Jasmin is expected to face second-degree murder charges following what they initially described Sunday as “a possible murder and attempted suicide.”

Plaistow Police officers were dispatched Sunday at 6:13 a.m., to an Old County Road home, after receiving an emergency 911 call. Officials said in an update Monday, when Plaistow Police searched the house, they found Reya Jasmin “only partially responsive and appeared to be suffering from several injuries” and was taken to an out-of-state hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A child who lived at the home was not injured.

Once inside, they met with the caller and discovered a deceased adult female and an adult man suffering from injuries. The man was taken to the hospital and the woman’s death termed “suspicious.” An autopsy was scheduled to take place by the end of Sunday. Haverhill Man, 20, Pleads Not Guilty in Sidewalk Traffic Death of North Andover Woman

A 20-year-old Haverhill man has been charged in connection with a 2023 car crash that killed a 47-year-old North Andover woman while she was walking on a sidewalk. Raymond Nestor was arraigned Friday in Lawrence District Court on charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and a marked lanes violation, according to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office. Angela Desmond died May 7, 2023, while walking on the sidewalk along Massachusetts Avenue in North Andover near Route 125. Prosecutors allege Nestor’s Honda was traveling on the street when it crossed the roadway and hit Desmond. She was taken to Lawrence General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Feds Charge Man, 41, Who Lived in Haverhill and Methuen, Allegedly Sold Fentanyl Pills with Child in Car

A 41-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic, living in Haverhill and Methuen, was arrested Tuesday and charged with allegedly conspiring to distribute approximately 600 counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl. Jose Radhame Sanchez was charged with conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. He made an initial appearance in federal court in Boston and was ordered held pending a hearing May 6. According to the court documents, Sanchez allegedly sold approximately 200 suspected fentanyl pills pressed to resemble 30 milligram oxycodone pills to a cooperating source April 9, in Lawrence. It is also alleged Sanchez had a minor child with him in the car during the transaction.

Three from Lawrence and Methuen Face Gun, Stolen Property Charges After Haverhill Pursuit

Three men—one from Methuen and two from Lawrence, between ages 18 and 21—face gun, stolen property and other charges after a police pursuit Sunday that ended on Broadway in Haverhill. Twenty-one-year-old Jorge Alvarado of Methuen and 20-year-old Davian Ginorio and 18-year-old Harland Love, both of Lawrence, were each charged with carrying firearms without a license and receiving stolen property. Alvarado and Ginorio were also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Alvarado also faces various driving-related offenses, included unlicensed and reckless driving, speeding, crossing marked lanes, failing to stop for police and three counts of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Each were arraigned Monday in Haverhill District Court.

Judge sentences Windham, N.H. Man to Three-Year Prison Term for Defrauding United Way

A 51-year-old Windham, N.H., man was sentenced last week in federal court for using his own company to defraud United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, where he also worked. Acting New Hampshire U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack said Imran Alrai, owner of DigitalNet Technology Solutions, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph N. Laplante to three years in federal prison and a year of supervised release. Alrai was also ordered to pay restitution of $2.3 million. In October 2024, Alrai was convicted by a federal jury of 12 counts of wire fraud and six counts of money laundering. “For six years, the defendant carried out a calculated and sophisticated scheme to steal millions from a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting our most vulnerable communities,” said McCormack.

Updated: Haverhill Police Arrest 37-Year-Old Man Alleged to Have Randomly Stabbed Two Men

A 37-year-old man is under arrest after, Haverhill Police said Saturday morning, he allegedly randomly stabbed two people downtown. Police were dispatched Saturday, just before 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of two adult men suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds. One was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Following an investigation with community assistance, police Capt. Meaghan Paré said in a release, officers located and arrested Brian Scrooc without incident. “At this time, authorities believe the attack was random, and unprovoked.
