March 20 is Team Haverhill’s next “Possible Dreams,” which previously has led to creation of Clement Farm Disc Golf Course, revitalization of the Haverhill Farmers Market and births of Haverhill Restaurant Week, River Ruckus and Cleaner & Greener Downtown Haverhill. Team Haverhill asks the public to share and submit ideas in advance of the event. Community conversation at the event will focus on these ideas, and how they can be made to happen. The annual community visioning event takes place on Monday, March 20, 7 p.m., at the Hartleb Technology Center at Northern Essex Community College, 100 Elliott St., Haverhill. Public registration for attendees begins next Wednesday, Feb.

Haverhill Police Hockey Club Gets Ready for Game Against Boston Bruins Alumni

Haverhill Police Hockey Club members are sharpening their skates for another game against the Boston Bruins Alumni team. The Haverhill Police Relief Association fundraiser takes place Saturday, April 1, at 2 p.m., at Veterans Memorial Skating Rink, behind Haverhill High School, 137 Monument St. Proceeds benefit the death/disability benefit fund. Spectators are also asked to bring canned goods for a drive to benefit Sacred Hearts Food Pantry. There will also be a 50/50 raffle at the game.

Boy Scouts Troop 87 Suggests Pizza Next Week to Help Defray Scouting Costs

Groveland Boy Scouts Troop 87, with members from Groveland, Haverhill and West Newbury, are asking supporters to enjoy a meal next week and help defray Scouting-related expenses. Georgetown American Flatbread will donate $3.50 for every large and $1.75 for every small pizza ordered, dine-in or take-out, Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 5-9 p.m., at 258 Andover St., Georgetown. Proceeds will help pay for camping, events, supplies and other costs. Those who can’t make it, but still want to help may Venmo @Groveland-Scouts.

Haverhill Public Library Collecting Pajamas as Part of 16th Annual Boston Bruins PJ Drive

The Haverhill Public Library is teaming up with the Boston Bruins to participate in the 16th annual Boston Bruins PJ Drive to benefit Department of Children and Families’ Wonderfund and Cradles to Crayons. The PJ Drive’s goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of new pajamas. Many of the pajamas donated go to local DCF offices in the area in which they were collected, benefitting local kids and teens. The state agency estimates that at any given time the it is working with 50,000 babies, children and teens. The Boston Bruins PJ Drive runs from Feb.

Information About Help Paying Winter Heating Bills Focus of Meeting Feb. 2

Those seeking relief from high winter heating bills can learn more about qualifying for assistance from Haverhill-based Community Action during an upcoming “Heating Help Event.”
Community Action’s Energy Assistance Program provides eligible individuals and families financial assistance to help pay for heating bills. Information will be presented Thursday, Feb. 2, from 3-6 p.m., at the Haverhill Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St. Residents are advised to bring photo identification, list of all household members, the name of their heating company and account number, their rental or mortgage statement and proof of income for the prior 30 days.

It’s not too early to think about plans for February school vacation. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill is bringing back its February Vacation Academy, open during Haverhill Public School’s February Vacation from Tuesday, Feb. 21, through Friday, Feb. 24, from 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.

Hound, Rod & Gun Club Annual Ice Fishing Derby Feb. 4

Haverhill Hound, Rod & Gun Club is having its Annual Ice Fishing Derby on the first Saturday in February with a $250 first prize. First place will be awarded for the Biggest Fish, any species, by weight, followed by $100 for the second biggest; and $50 for the third biggest. There are also awards for children under age 15. The Ice Fishing Derby takes place Saturday, Feb. 4, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., with sign-in beginning at 6 a.m., at Chadwick Pond, 19 Larch Road, Haverhill.

Local Wildflower Montessori preschools, Marigold and Wisteria, as well as the newly opened infant and toddler program, Snowdrop Montessori, are inviting families to learn more about children’s enrollment. Snowdrop, Marigold and Wisteria Montessori Schools are part of the Wildflower network, a network of decentralized Montessori micro-schools that support children, teachers and parents.
