Breakfast at Haverhill’s American Legion Wilbur M. Comeau Post 4 will be free to veterans this Saturday. The Veterans Eat Free event, sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 4, features French toast, pancakes, eggs any style, sausage, bacon, toast, bagels and English muffins along with juice, milk, tea and coffee. Adults are $10 and children under 12, $5. The Saturday, May 3, breakfast takes place from 8-11:30 a.m., at the post, 1314 Main St., Haverhill. Haverhill Firefighting Museum Offers Raffle with $5,000 Cash Top Prize

The Haverhill Firefighting Museum is having its second cash raffle with a $5,000 grand prize. Cynthia Graham, who serves as vice president of the museum’s board, said a maximum of 250 tickets will be sold for $100 each. Besides the chance to win a $5,000 first prize, there is a $1,000 second prize and third prize of $750 in scratch tickets. Proceeds support operations for the coming year. Graham said board members have tickets for sale or they can be ordered on the museum’s website, HaverhillFirefightingMuseum.org.

Ruth’s House Offers 20% Earth Day Discount for Those Recycling Textiles

You can do your part keeping old clothes and other textiles out of the landfill by recycling them at Ruth’s House, a thrift shop with a charitable mission. In celebration of Earth Day, those bringing unwanted textiles into the shop between Tuesday, April 22, and Saturday, April 26, will earn a 20% coupon to use in the store. Any types of old textiles will be accepted including torn clothes, stained towels and fabric shreds. Ruth’s House provides clothing and employment training opportunities to individuals and families in need throughout the Merrimack Valley. Its thrift shop is open Tuesdays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 111 Lafayette Square, Haverhill.

Curbside Collection of Leaves, Grass Saturday Morning in Haverhill

Haverhill is collecting leaves and grass clippings at the curb this Saturday. This Saturday, April 19, residents are asked to place leaves and grass clippings in either bags or open barrels and placed on the curb by 6 a.m. Loose leaves, brush and branches, plastic bags or trash will not be collected. Each bag or barrel must weigh less than 40 pounds. Brush may be dropped off at the Recycling Center, behind the Public Works garage, 500 Primrose St., Wednesdays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and Saturdays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Residents must have the 2025 sticker or a day pass to drop off brush or branches. The sticker may be purchased at the Public Works offices, weekdays, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

It will be a yard sale lover’s paradise in Groveland on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, as the Friends of the Groveland Council on Aging sponsor a “Town-Wide Yard Sale” weekend. Groveland residents who wish to participate are advised to register their addresses by Tuesday, April 22. The fee is $25 and covers the town’s $10 yard sale permit. Registration forms are available at Groveland Town Hall. The Friends will provide maps showing each registered yard sale address, signage and advertising.

Calling all golfers interested in a great day on the links for a good cause. The Haverhill and Plaistow YMCA invites golfers to participate in its first Fore the Future Golf Tournament. Participants will be offered breakfast Friday, May 30, before a shotgun start at 8 a.m.at the Bradford Country Club, 201 Chadwick St., Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the tournament. Contests include hole-in-one with a $25,000 grand prize. Golfers with the longest drive and closest ball to the pin will also win recognition.

Greater Haverhill Arts Association Invites High and Middle School Student Art for May Show

Students from high and middle schools have an opportunity to display their artwork—whether made at home or in school—and receive awards when the Greater Haverhill Arts Association presents its Student Art Exhibit 2025. Students have until Tuesday, April 29, to register and must be able to deliver their works May 2 in time for the exhibit, which runs Saturday, May 3, to Saturday, May 10, at Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water St., Haverhill. There is a $5 entry and registration fee to cover up to a limit of three submissions. A registration form and guidelines is available online at ghaa.art. There will be a public reception and presentation of awards Sunday, May 4, from 2:30-4 p.m., at the museum.

Haverhill is celebrating National Poetry Month with the return of Haverhill River Bards’ Poetry and Open Mic Night and launch of the Poetry Caravan Tour. Haverhill River Bards’ free inaugural Poetry and Open Mic Night of the spring series features readings by members of the Haverhill High School Poetry Club. It opens with a featured reading followed by an open mic where all are welcome to share original works. A sign-up sheet will be available at the door for those interested in reading. It takes place Wednesday, April 16, with doors opening at 6:45 and readings at 7 p.m., at HC Media’s Studio 101, 2 Merrimack St., Haverhill.

Northshoremen Perform Barbershop-Style Benefit for Friends of Groveland Council on Aging

The Northshoremen, described as an a cappella group singing in Barbershop-style, close four-part harmony, perform in a benefit Friday night for the Friends of Groveland Council on Aging. The local, acapella men’s chorus sings Friday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m., at Elmer S. Bagnall School, 253 School St., Groveland. Tickets are $15 per person and will be sold at the door.
