Academy of Creative Arts at Trinity Plans Theater Workshop

The Academy of Creative Arts at Trinity is planning its annual Summer Theater Workshop for kids ages 6 to 16. Janet King, program director, said participants will be working on “Raise Your Voice,” a new musical review from MTI featuring songs from “The Little Mermaid,” “High School Musical,” “Guys & Dolls” and other popular musicals. “The emphasis is on fun and we welcome young people with little or no experience,” she said. The workshop runs Monday, July 25, through Friday, July 29 at Trinity Church, 26 White St., Haverhill. The program meets Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a 5 p.m. performance.

American Red Cross Plans Haverhill Blood Drives Saturday and Wednesday

The American Red Cross has scheduled two Haverhill Community Blood Drives. The first takes place Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Cedardale Health and Fitness, 931 Boston Road, Haverhill. A second drive takes place Wednesday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at AmVets Post 147, 576 Primrose St., Haverhill. Appointments may be made online at redcrossblood.org.

Essex County Ghost Project and Witches Wonder Plan Hilldale Cemetery Event Saturday

The Essex County Ghost Project and Witches Wonder plan, what they call, a night of “Paranormal Intrigue” this Saturday. Witches Wonder plans psychic readings beginning Saturday, June 25, between 6:30 and 8 p.m., when a ghost hunt takes place at Hilldale Cemetery. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. The tarot card reading is separate from the ghost hunt. Donation for the ghost hunt is $10 per person with all proceeds given to the Hilldale cemetery restoration fund to purchase a chipper. Museum of Printing Plans Member Appreciation Day and Ludlow Typograph Lecture June 25

Haverhill’s Museum of Printing is having its Member Appreciation Day tomorrow along with a lecture on “The History of the Ludlow Typograph” open to the public. Frank J. Romano, the museum’s chairman and executive director, discusses the Ludlow Typograph and how many of today’s computer fonts are based on this hot metal system. Romano is the author of “History of the Ludlow Typograph,” a book available both in hardcover and softcover editions. The museum is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Lectures are scheduled Saturday, June 25, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the Museum of Printing, 15 Thornton Ave., Haverhill. During the museum’s Member Appreciation Day, there is a 20% discount on all Museum Store items.

Haverhill Farmers Market Opens Saturday with Food, Music, Children’s Activities

The Haverhill Farmers Market kicks off for the season this Saturday in downtown Haverhill. While one expects to find fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods and homemade treats, there are local musicians and, as Manager Jeff Grassie points out, many new features and plenty for the kids to do. “We have a couple new vendors. Parkins Plays Classical Works Tonight at Methuen Memorial Music Hall Summer Series

Methuen Memorial Music Hall continues its annual Summer Series of Organ Recitals tonight with Robert Parkins of Durham, N.C., playing works by Scarlett, Eberlin, Bach, Liszt, Brahms and Mendelssohn on the Great Organ. The recital takes place tonight, June 22, at 7:30 p.m., at historic Methuen Memorial Music Hall, 192 Broadway, Methuen. LGBTQ+ Elders in an Ever-Changing World Conference this Friday Co-Sponsored by AgeSpan

In time for Pride month, AgeSpan is collaborating to present the 11th Annual LGBTQ+ Elders in an Ever-Changing World Conference this Friday. AgeSpan, formerly Elder Services, is partnering with California State University-Sacramento, Care Dimensions, Good Shepherd Community Care, LGBT Aging Project Fenway Health, Over the Rainbow Social Group and Salem State University School of Social Work. The keynote speaker is award-winning filmmaker Stu Maddux, discussing “Social Isolation, Loneliness and Resilience in LGBTQ Older Adults” and his new documentary, “All the Lonely People.” Maddux is well-known for his documentary, “Gen Silent,”about Boston-area LGBT older people who hid their sexuality or gender to survive in the long-term care system. In addition, the virtual one-day conference features workshops on a variety of topics. Those looking for alternative resources, services or community programs to help support their individual aging or caregiving needs are invited to attend.

Top New England Cider Makers at Haverhill’s CiderFeast New England This Thursday

The second annual CiderFeast New England is set for this Thursday in downtown Haverhill with more than a dozen of the top New England cider makers participating. CiderFeast New England is the brainchild of Jimmy Carbone, who grew up in Haverhill, started hosting Cider Week NY events at his New York City beer bar in 2011 and annually hosts CiderFeast events as part of Cider Week. He said Steve Wood of Farnum Hill Ciders, of Lebanon, N.H., and Eleanor Leger of Eden Ciders of Newport, Vt., encouraged him for 10 years to bring a similar June cider happening here. Carbone calls CiderFeast an “all-inclusive food and drink tasting event.”

Besides Farnum Hill and Eden Ciders, others coming to Haverhill are Spoke and Spy Ciderworks, Ragged Hill Cider Co., Artifact Cider Project, Urban Farm Fermentory, New Salem Cider, JMASH cider of Hilltop Orchards, Moonlight Meadery, Easthampton Cider Project, Far From The Tree Cider, Stormalong Cider and Bird Dog Cider. CiderFeast New England also brings light bites from Carbone’s Kitchen, Brewer’s Crackers, La Pizza di Forno, L’Arche Hummus, Tuckaway Farms, Gulf of Maine Conservas and River Street Café.
