Merrimack Valley Chamber Plans Business Networking and Referral Mixer Tonight

The Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce is having a Business Networking and Referral Mixer at DiBurro’s Function Facility, tonight, in Haverhill. Networking, appetizers and drawings are among the activities during the mixer Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 5-7 p.m., at DiBurro’s, 887 Boston Road. Admission is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. DSR Motor Group Buys Rockingham Toyota and Honda, Known for Local Philanthropy

Rockingham Toyota and Honda, operated by Emmett Horgan and his family for almost four decades, was recently sold to Westwood-based DSR Motor Group. The two Salem, N.H., dealerships became Canobie Lake Toyota and Canobie Lake Honda respectively, under the leadership of David Rosenberg, DSR Motor Group president. Bob Ramos was named general manager and managing partner of Rockingham Toyota.  In a statement on the web, Emmett and Ryan Horgan said they will “miss all the relationships we have built over the years.”

“We have been honored to be a part of the community for over 36 years, so it was a difficult decision for us to retire. As local business owners since 1985, it has been our privilege to experience firsthand the incredible growth in the Greater Salem Area, and to have supported many excellent community non-profit organizations, from the Boys and Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce and Rotary clubs, to Salem High School and the Salem Animal Rescue league, among others.”

Rockingham Toyota was well known for its sponsorships of Haverhill Rotary Club programs, including the club’s former Rubber Duck Regatta where the dealership donated a new car as a prize.

A series of dance classes is taking place starting tomorrow night in downtown Haverhill. Described as “simple dance moves you can groove,” the first class of Bachata Phunk with Ysasha is free. It begins Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Galleria Banquet Room at Maria’s, 81 Essex St., Haverhill.

Amazon Workforce Staffing Interviews Prospective Employees Tuesday at MakeIT Haverhill

Representatives from Amazon Workforce Staffing are interviewing potential employees this afternoon in Haverhill. Amazon seeks warehouse team members for its operation at 25 Computer Drive in Haverhill.  Employees may earn up to $18.45 per hour and jobs are full-time, regular or seasonal. Candidates must be 18 years or older. Associates load conveyor belts and transport and stage deliveries to be picked up by drivers. Amazon and MakeIT Haverhill are combining the normal two-step process, where applicants’ complete forms at MakeIT Haverhill and then complete oral drug tests and other final tasks outside of Haverhill.

PrideStar EMS Plans to Acquire Trinity EMS, Retain Headquarters in Lowell and Haverhill

PrideStar EMS and Trinity EMS, both headquartered in Lowell, plan to become one emergency medical service company rooted in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire. PrideStar EMS founder and CEO David Daly said the Daly Holding Company, parent of PrideStar EMS, is buying Trinity, but John Chemaly, Trinity president, will remain with the expanded company as vice president of strategic planning and retain an ownership interest. “We are thrilled to welcome John and his team,” Daly said. “PrideStar and Trinity benefited from strong leadership teams to help the agencies deliver high-quality and professional emergency services to our communities for decades. John’s continued commitment to that mission will be invaluable as we look toward the future.”

The company will employ 450 people and operate more than 115 vehicles in 14 communities in the Greater Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire.

Stacks Opens in Downtown Haverhill with Craft Sandwiches, Bar With ‘Booze-Infused Milkshakes’

Haverhill’s newest restaurant, Stacks, opened to the public Thursday with craft sandwiches and 24 beers or ciders on tap. The 122 Washington St. restaurant is operated by brothers Paul and Anthony Tomacchio in the space formerly occupied by the Lasting Room. Besides food and a full bar, Stacks highlights its “over-the-top booze-infused milkshakes.”

At a ribbon cutting by the Merrimack Valley Chamber, Stacks received recognition from elected officials including Rep. Andy X. Vargas and Haverhill City Councilors Colin F. LePage and Timothy J. Jordan.

Covanta Issues Challenge to Businesses to Support VFW Santa Parade, Matches Donations

A local business is stepping up to help ensure the 57th Annual VFW Santa Parade is a big success by challenging others to contribute. Covanta of Haverhill, which in 2016 took second place in the overall float competition in the parade, is matching donations from other local businesses dollar-for-dollar up to $3,000. The parade is set for Sunday, Nov. 21, but initial uncertainty over COVID-19 dampened fundraising efforts. “Given our inability to gather last year due to COVID, we want to help make this year a little bigger, brighter and better.

Covanta Donates Downtown Haverhill U.S. Flag Retirement Drop Box; City Now Offers Three Sites

Haverhill residents now have easy access to three U.S. Flag retirement drop boxes with Covanta donating one at the Citizens Center in downtown Haverhill. The new box, designed to collect worn flags for proper and dignified disposal, was installed in the center of the city at 10 Welcome St. Vietnam Veterans Memorial Commission Chairman Ralph T. Basiliere said Covanta contributed to the memorial and sought to continue its service to veterans. “It was just time to move forward and Covanta purchased the box, had it made and delivered it to us. We’re very happy to have it at a location where a lot of elderly veterans are inclined to use it,” Basiliere said.
