Officials Plan First Public Briefing on Gigliotti Death Investigation Monday

Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker on Monday is expected to provide an update Monday on the status of his office’s investigation into the death of Francis Gigliotti a week ago while in Haverhill Police custody. The district attorney will share City of Haverhill video camera footage, as well as bystander videos showing 43-year-old Gigliotti before and through the time he became “unresponsive” around Friday, July 11, around 6:30 p.m., on a sidewalk on the outskirts of downtown Haverhill. No advance information was provided about whether any findings by the chief medical examiner will be available. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert P. Pistone Jr. said in a release last Saturday afternoon that Gigliotti fell while leaving a building on White Street near the intersection of Winter and Emerson Streets.

Haverhill Seeks Public Ideas for Vibrant Downtown as Redevelopment Progresses

Haverhill Mayor Melinda E. Barrett is looking for ideas for making Haverhill’s downtown more attractive to residents, businesses and visitors alike. Towards that end, the city has posted a seven-question survey on the city website and is encouraging anyone who lives or works in Haverhill to share their thoughts. The survey was written by the city Downtown Events Coordinator Hailey Pearson.

Alleged Bank Robber Now Due to Return to Haverhill District Court Aug. 13

Ryan Messina, who is alleged to have held up a Pentucket Bank branch in Haverhill on June 2 after commandeering a car in Lawrence, is now due in Haverhill District Count Wednesday, Aug. 13. A dangerousness hearing had been scheduled for this past Tuesday, but was rescheduled.

Broco Energy of Haverhill Helps Massport Transition to Renewable Diesel Fuel

Haverhill-based Broco Energy recently entered into a new partnership with the Massachusetts Port Authority to deliver and transition Massport’s fuel tanks to renewable diesel across the quasi-state agency’s facilities. Fuel tank locations include Conley Terminal, Boston Logan International Airport, Hanscom Air Force Base, Worcester Regional Airport and other Massport facilities. The collaboration is aimed at advancing Massport’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and advancing environmental stewardship through cutting-edge carbon reduction solutions.
