Haverhill city councilors Tuesday night formally accepted the placement of the 1845-era powder house on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is one of four structures in the city known to have been designed to hold gun powder. The 91 Powder House Ave. structure is one of the few remaining buildings of its kind in the region.

The Northern Essex Community College men’s soccer team ranked ninth in the week six poll released Monday afternoon by the NJCAA. Winners of eight straight games, the Knights were sitting at 8-2 overall in the season before its return to the field Tuesday night against MassBay. The Knights eight straight wins are currently the nation’s third longest active win streak and sit atop the Region 21 standings.
