Haverhill’s three Masonic Bodies awarded $60,000 to 12 young scholars during a recent Scholarship Night awards ceremony at Maria’s Restaurant in Haverhill.
Receiving scholarships were Emma Bates, Aiden Dowd, Amanda Montminy, Samantha Patterson, Connor Pitcher, Emily Reid, Audrey Sevigny, Isabelle Sevigny, Olivia Sevigny, Nicholas Stemkoski and Connor Wong.
Julia Volpe won the Second Annual James B. Giannatsis Scholarship for her essay on the theme of “What it means to be an American.” The Giannatsis scholarship was created by the Giannatsis family to recognize his more than 25 years of service to the Masonic scholarship initiative.
“The Haverhill Masonic community remains deeply committed to supporting education and fostering leadership in the next generation,” said Scott Reid, chair of the Saggahew Lodge Charitable Trustees and master of ceremony for the night.
Haverhill Masonic Bodies include the Saggahew Lodge, Newburyport Commandery and Scottish Rite Valley of Merrimack. All three clubs meet at the Haverhill Masonic Lodge, 111 Merrimack St., Haverhill.
