A new design for entrance stairs more in keeping with the historic Rocks Village Hand Tub House is on the agenda for the next meeting of the Rocks Village Historic District Commission.
The Rocks Village Memorial Association is applying for permission to rebuild the short set of stairs, according to Patrick J. Sullivan, the chair of the commission.
The commission is meeting virtually on Wed., July 2, at 7 p.m. The Zoom meeting number is 256 595 4047 and the passcode is 342 997.
The Rocks Village Hand Tub House at 1 River Road in Haverhill is an 1830-era building built as a meeting hall and to house the village’s firefighting apparatus. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 as part of the Rocks Village Historic District.
Monday, June 30
Haverhill School Committee’s Subcommittee for Teacher Negotiations will meet in person and virtually on Mon., June 30, at 2 p.m. The committee plans to enter executive session to discuss negotiating strategy. The meeting will be held at Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St., in room 206, the Superintendent’s conference room.
Tuesday, July 1
Haverhill Board of Assessors will meet for its regular weekly meeting Tuesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. in Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St, the Assessor’s office., room 115. Routine matters are on the agenda.
The Haverhill City Council is holding a special meeting Tuesday, July 1, at 2:30 p.m., online to re-take its vote on aligning the city’s floodplain overlay district zoning with the state’s floodplain zoning regulation.
The Council voted to adopt the measure at its last meeting, but subsequently discovered a page had been left out of the official document. A special meeting was scheduled because the document must be filed by the day before the next Council’s meeting July 8.
William Pillsbury Jr., the city’s economic development and planning director, explained that while the city’s zoning regulations were similar to the state’s, there are a few differences. The special meeting will be held in the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. Council Chambers, room 202, Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St.
