Haverhill Mayor Barrett to Deliver State of the City Address April 22 From City Hall

Haverhill Mayor Melinda E. Barrett is preparing to give her first State of the City address.

The mayor, who was sworn in January of 2024 as the city’s first female chief executive, will outline the city’s accomplishments in the past year, provide updates on ongoing projects and list her priorities in the year ahead, according a press release.

Barrett will be introduced by City Council President Thomas Sullivan. The address takes place Tuesday, April 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m., in city hall auditorium. The public is invited to attend. The State of the City address will also be carried by HC Media on local cable television and its website.

Barrett’s office said, since taking office, the mayor has “fostered collaboration and improved efficiency in city operations. She has made investments in public safety, moved multiple infrastructure projects forward, worked with the city’s unions to collective bargain in good faith, and revamped the city’s budgeting process.”
