A wind-toppled pine tree that took out a power line Friday brought out Groveland and West Newbury firefighters to extinguish a resulting brush fire.

Groveland Fire Chief Robert Valentine said the Groveland and West Newbury Fire Departments were notified of a brush fire Friday, just before 1:30 p.m., near Center Street and Webster Way on the town line. There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters from both departments found about a half-acre of brush burning because of the downed high-tension power line. A forestry firefighting team from the state Department of Conservation and Recreation also assisted at the scene, while Georgetown covered Groveland firefighters covered stations during the fire.

A National Grid crew disconnected the power line, allowing firefighters to bring the blaze under control at 2:31 p.m.
