An El Salvadoran national living in Methuen pleaded guilty last Thursday in federal court in Boston to illegally reentering the country.

Fifty-seven-year-old Agustin Landaverde-Romero pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Landaverde-Romero was first indicted by a federal grand jury a year ago.

Prosecutors say sometime around July 13, 2020, Landaverde-Romero was found in the United States without having received permission. Landaverde-Romero was previously deported to El Salvador on Oct. 7, 1999.

U.S.  District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns scheduled sentencing for May 21.
