Congresswoman Lori Trahan Friday began her fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Democrat Trahan, representing Massachusetts’ 3rd Congressional District, was first elected in 2018 to succeed retiring Congresswoman Niki Tsongas.

“I’m honored to continue representing the district that means everything to me—the place where my grandparents first settled as immigrants in search of opportunity, where I was born and raised, and where my husband and I are now raising our family,” Trahan said in a statement.

She went on to add, “Today, families are working harder than ever to provide their children with the same opportunities, but the high cost of living and limited access to affordable housing and child care are putting those dreams further out of reach.”

Trahan said she will is guided by one question, “How does this improve the lives of the people I have the privilege to serve?” She said despite Republican control of the federal government, she is “committed to working with anyone, regardless of their political affiliation, who shares the goal of improving the communities we represent.”
