Paré Makes History as Interim Haverhill Deputy Police Chief While Doherty Attends FBI Academy

Haverhill Police Capt. Meaghan Paré is temporarily filling in as Deputy Police Chief Stephen J. Doherty Jr. trains at an FBI Academy over the next few months.

Paré was sworn as interim deputy police chief Friday morning by City Clerk Kaitlin M. Wright during a ceremony in the mayor’s office attended by Mayor Melinda E. Barrett and Police Chief Robert P. Pistone.

In a statement on social media, the police department wrote, Paré is “the first woman to rise through the ranks of the police department to become captain and now she is the first woman to serve as deputy chief.
