It’s shaping up as a busy, seasonal weekend with a wide array of activities from Buttonwood Museum’s Festival of Trees to various gift fairs and even a hike. Here’s your guide to events.
Buttonwoods Festival of Trees
Buttonwoods Festival of Trees is open until 8 p.m., tonight, with $1 off admission for seniors, at 240 Water St., Haverhill. Events include a senior tea party featuring the Comedy Masque Review, old-time radio shows from holidays past and a Candlelight Tour of the John Ward House from 6-7:30 p.m. On Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., the Festival of Trees offers Family Day with coloring and crafts for the kids and a visit from Santa between 1 and 3 p.m. and music by Currier Square with a buffet for $15. Sunday activities, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., include Greater Haverhill Art Association art demonstrations and a holiday concert by Currier Square with light refreshments.
Admission for adults is $7 each; seniors, $5 each; children ages 6-17, $3 each; and children 5 and under are free. For groups of 10 or more, email [email protected] for assistance. Some events are extra. The Festival accepts cash only.
Atkinson Garden Club
Atkinson Garden Club’s Annual Greens and Gifts Sale run today, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St., Atkinson, N.H. Sale items include wreaths of many sizes, velvet bows, decorated Holly Trees, table centerpieces, decorated Kissing Balls, ornaments, mugs with greens, swags, roping and fresh greens. There is a drawing for a chance to win a curated “Bees, Birds and Blossoms” gift basket. The annual holiday fundraiser supports the club’s scholarship fund, community educational and beautification programs and gardening programs.
John Greenleaf Whittier School
John Greenleaf Whittier School’s craft fair is Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the school, 256 Concord St., Haverhill. It supports an eighth-grade trip next June to Washington, D.C.
Essex County Greenbelt Association
Essex County Greenbelt Association’s Let’s Hike Haverhill Series Finale, called a “Barn to Barn Hike,” takes place Saturday, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., for those that preregistered, starting at Willow Spring Vineyard, 840 W. Lowell Ave., in Haverhill, and ending at the Sztucinski-Anton Family Farm. After the hike, participants return to the vineyard for complimentary charcuterie boards, with wine and beer available for purchase.
New England Classical Singers
New England Classical Singers plan perform seasonal favorites during Joyeux Noél, Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. at Christ Church, 33 Central St., Andover. The concert is under the direction of Artistic Director David Hodgkins. Donations may be made online. There is also a pre-concert lecture by Dr. Andrew Shryock at 2 p.m. Parking is available at TD Bank, 20 Central St.; public parking lot, 81 Main St.; and Memorial Hall Library parking lot, 15 Essex St., Andover.
