Two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old were arrested this week by Methuen Police in connection with a shooting on Boston Street in Methuen that left three people injured—including a 17-year-old that remains in critical condition.
Methuen Police said last night that on Monday, Oct. 21, at about 1:03 a.m., they were dispatched to a report of gunfire and injuries in the area of 113 Boston St. Officers a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both received on-scene treatment before being taken to a local hospital. Shortly after, another 16-year-old male, arrived at a local hospital also seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
While, the 17-year-old victim remains in critical condition at a regional trauma center. The other two have since been released.
Methuen Police Chief Scott J. McNamara said 18-year-olds Jayden Moreno of Methuen and Reggie Wells of Salem, N.H., were arrested and charged with armed assault to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of ammunition without an FID card and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Moreno was also charged with disturbing the peace.
A 16-year-old male was also charged with armed assault to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Methuen Police reported the coordinated efforts of Methuen Police patrol officers and detectives under Sgt. Nicholas Conway and Massachusetts State Police uncovered evidence across multiple locations. These included two firearms—one from an untraceable 9mm “ghost gun”—ammunition casings and personal items.
