Route 110 Fixes in Methuen, Bicycle Path in Lawrence Benefit from Federal Highway Reallocation

Methuen and Lawrence are among the community beneficiaries sharing in $171 million from the Federal Highway Administration as part of its annual redistribution of unused money.

Those driving along Route 110 in Methuen, Lowell and Dracut will see the benefits as federal money, originally targeted to projects throughout the country that could not be completed, pay for resurfacing and related work along the riverside highway. In Lawrence, federal money pays for bicycle path construction along Lawrence Manchester Rail Corridor rail trail.

“This funding will provide a valuable boost for infrastructure projects that will improve roads, bridges, bike paths and sidewalks across the state,” said Gov. Maura T. Healey.

Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll added, “The transportation projects we invest in today will have a direct impact on our quality of life tomorrow and many years down the road, so it is essential that we continue to pursue these federal resources on behalf of our communities.”
