Haverhill and Methuen are among area communities again planning National Night Out Tuesday with free food and activities for the public.
Haverhill Police Department, Haverhill Fire Department, Pridestar Trinity EMS plan to assemble Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5-8 p.m., at Swasey Field, on Blaisdell Street. They will be joined by various nonprofit organizations, which typically features hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream; games, entertainment; and displays of police equipment.
Haverhill Police Chief Robert P. Pistone said highlights are expected to include specially trained dogs from Essex County Sheriff Kevin F. Coppinger’s K-9 unit and a State Police Air Wing fly-by.
Methuen again plans a series of neighborhood block parties from 6-8 p.m.
National Night Out, a community-building campaign promoting police-community partnerships, was founded in 1984.
