97.9 WHAV, Greater Haverhill’s only public radio station and nonprofit local news service, is offering a rare opportunity to join a respected and growing regional news operation—on-air, online and everywhere.

Requirements

Successful applicants must demonstrate natural curiosity, objectivity, dependability, willingness to learn and commitment to accuracy. The position offer great growth potential and requires a degree in journalism or related field, reliable transportation and valid driver’s license, strong ethics, excellent English spelling and grammar, ability to work well and quickly under deadline pressure, mastery of Microsoft Word, solid PC skills and above-average attention to detail.

What to Expect

The job involves working nights and the occasional weekend putting meetings and events on the air live, recording audio, editing audio cuts, writing stories and some announcing. Some technical and Associated Press (AP) Style training will be provided. Some writing and telephone interviews may be performed remotely.

Work on college TV, radio, newspapers or literary publications will be considered as experience.
