Plaistow’s Mosquito Control program begins this week.

Crews from Dragon Mosquito Control will be checking swamps, marshes, woodland pools, ditches, catch basins, storm drains and other shallow, stagnant water for mosquito larvae. When mosquito larvae are found, treatment may include the use of insecticides.

Officials said there is no schedule yet to conduct emergency spraying for disease-carrying mosquitoes. The determination to spray adult mosquitoes at town and school property is based on mosquito surveillance data, disease test results and weather conditions upon concurrence with town officials. Diseases such as EEE and West Nile Virus are found in mosquitoes during the latter part of the summer and early fall.

Those who do not want their wetlands treated may use the No Spray Registry online at DragonMosquito.com/No-Spray-Registry or write to the company at P.O. Box 46, Stratham, N.H. 03885 and include name, physical address, telephone number, house color and acreage.

Residents may also call 603-734-4144 or email [email protected] for more information on spray dates, locations, material used, precautions or other concerns.
