Seven Star Road in Groveland was closed to traffic for more than 90 minutes Saturday afternoon after a town road sander encountered a mechanical problem and spilled about 10 gallons of hydraulic fluid.

Fire Chief Robert Valentine said firefighters, assisted by the Groveland Department of Public Works, used granular absorbents and specially designed absorbent pads to contain and collect the hydraulic fluid. Firefighters were dispatched just after noon after being notified of the small hazardous materials spill. They remained on scene until about 2 p.m.

Groveland Police provided traffic management.
