The first annual Green Goddess Invitational, a female-centered, cannabis-themed golf tournament and more took place earlier this month with proceeds benefitting Haverhill’s Power Of Self Education, known as POSE.

Created and organized by Caroline Pineau, CEO of Stem, the Green Goddess Invitational featured a nine-hole golf tournament, panel discussions, lessons with a LPGA golf pro, unique cannabis educational offerings, wellness clinics, a painting workshop and other activities.

“The bar has not just been raised on cannabis industry events, it’s been obliterated by Ms. Caroline Pineau and the entire team at Stem Haverhill and everyone who came together to flawlessly execute the Green Goddess Invitational,” said Kim Napoli, counsel and director of diversity, equity and inclusion in the Boston office of Vicente Sederberg, a national cannabis firm.

Napoli was a panelist on one of the seminars at the first-of-its-kind tournament. All tournament proceeds benefited POSE a Haverhill-based nonprofit that promotes racial and social justice through community engagement, youth engagement and cross-sector collaborations.

In remarks to participants, Pineau said the event was meant to “spark joy, inspire activism and create space for connection and self-care.”

“You are all here today as trailblazers. You are defining our industry, and with that comes an incredible opportunity to do everything we possibly can to address social equity. We recognize this work can be draining at times, and emotional.  We need a reminder to have grace with each other, and especially ourselves,” Pineau said.

The event attracted more than 250 people and more than 40 co-sponsors. In addition to bringing together female cannabis entrepreneurs from throughout Massachusetts, the event featured a strong civil rights component, with the nationally-known cannabis entrepreneur and social justice advocate Freeway Ricky Ross leading a discussion on restorative justice.
