Annual Yankee Homecoming Veteran Luncheon Takes Place Tuesday in Newburyport

Area veterans are invited to partake in the free Annual Yankee Homecoming Veteran Luncheon Tuesday.

The Veteran Luncheon has been hosted during Yankee Homecoming for the last 12 years, and was started and managed by Korean War Veteran, Frank Ventura.

“Our veterans are our own national treasures,” said Haverhill resident and Yankee Homecoming Committee Member Donald Jarvis. “Whether returning recently or during World War II where are eldest Veterans are from, we thank our veterans for their service and it’s our honor to host this luncheon for them.”

This year Italian food from Giuseppe’s Fresh Pasta & Fine Food will be served with both a meat and vegetable option and assorted desserts.

The Veteran Luncheon takes place Tuesday, Aug. 2, from noon-2 at the Hope Community Church, 11 Hale St., Newburyport. Besides Yankee Homecoming, sponsors include Fairway Mortgage and the Sgt. Jordan Shay Memorial Foundation.

Newburyport Director of Veterans Services Kevin Hunt, a Navy and Vietnam veteran serves as master of ceremonies with Joe Byron, president and founder of Honor Flight New England, as special guest speaker. The guest of honor is U.S. Marine veteran Dominic Marcellino.
