Pentucket Players returns to in-person productions with its presentation of “Mass Appeal” April 30 and May 1 and 2 at Haverhill City Hall auditorium.

“Mass Appeal,” a comedy-drama written by Bill C. Davis, is the first live, fully staged production since the pandemic hit. It is directed by John R. Buzzell of Haverhill, and features, veteran actor Les Tarmy in the role of Fr. Tim Farley and, in alternating performances, Ben Fuller and Jonathan Touchette as Mark Dolson, the brash young seminarian. In addition to live staging, the production will be available for streaming. While Massachusetts has entered Phase Four of its reopening plan, the audience is required to socially distance and wear masks.

The play features Father Tim Farley, who, without realizing it, has resorted to flattering his parishioners and entertaining them with sermons that skirt any disturbing issues in order to protect his Mercedes, trips abroad and generous supply of fine wines that grace his table (and his desk drawer). His well-ordered world is disrupted by the arrival of Mark Dolson, an intense and idealistic young seminarian whom Father Farley reluctantly agrees to take under his wing.

Tickets are $20 each, but a $5 discount applies to those contributing new paperback puzzle and activity books, such as Word Search, Cross-Word and Sudoku to Emmaus House. Coloring books for adults are also appreciated. There is more information and tickets at pentucketplayers.org. All seats are reserved and seating is limited.
