Retired Methuen Police Officer William E. Rayno and his wife Matilda were identified by police as victims of carbon monoxide poisoning over the weekend at their home.
Eighty-six-year-old Rayno and his 85-year-old wife were found at the Holly Street home late Saturday morning.
“Retired Officer Rayno, known as the ‘Father’ of the police department and “P1,” served the Citizens of Methuen over a 32-year career. He was very well respected throughout the community. He was truly one of the best and his legacy will live on,” Methuen police said in a statement.
