Bethany Community Services of Haverhill is moving ahead with plans to develop “Merrimack Place,” an addition of 59 affordable senior housing units, beginning with the premiere of its capital campaign video on social media.

The Bethany Communities Capital Campaign Video event takes place Tuesday, Nov. 17, at noon on the Bethany Communities Facebook page and the Bethany Communities YouTube channel. The video event celebrates the resilience of the seniors who currently reside in Bethany Communities and highlights the need for creating additional affordable and supportive living opportunities for seniors in Haverhill and the surrounding area.

It features Sen. Diana DiZoglio, offering remarks on the outlook for senior housing in Massachusetts, and the presentation of the Bethany Community Impact Award to the Griffin-White foundation.

Besides additional housing and community space, the proposed Merrimack Place will provide expanded community space and enhanced wellness and other supportive service offerings.

Since 1965, Bethany Community Services, a Haverhill nonprofit, has provided affordable housing and supportive services to low and moderate-income seniors including meals, wellness and mental healthcare, activities, personal assistance and transportation, enabling those who are aging-in-place to remain independent and within the Bethany communities as long as possible.
