Although what would have been this year’s 56th Annual VFW Santa Parade has been cancelled because of COVID-19, the accompanying Betsy A. Conte Food Drive is still taking place this week.
Bradford Country Club is asking the public to take on Santa Claus’ role this year and help meet the heavy demand facing all of the city’s food pantries. The Club at 201 Chadwick Road, Bradford, is accepting donations every day at its golf pro shop. Non-perishable food, paper goods and hygiene products are especially needed.
This is the first time the Betsy Conte Food Drive has been conducted outside of the Lorraine Post 29 Veterans of Foreign Wars event. The event honors the late city councilor and community activist.
Bradford Country Club’s golf shop is open seven-days-a-week from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., weekdays, and 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m., weekends. Those with questions may call 978-372-8587, ext. 15, or email [email protected].
The club is also donating the proceeds from its sold-out golf tournament, Friday, Oct. 9, to the food drive.
