Haverhill Electronics Recycling Day Takes Place Saturday, Oct. 3 at Wastewater Plant

Haverhill plans an Electronics Recycling Day Saturday, Oct. 3

The Fall drop-off event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Haverhill Wastewater Treatment plant, 40 South Porter St.

Acceptable items for free drop-off include telephones, printers, copiers, scanners, fax equipment, batteries, laptop computers, appliances, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, microwaves, DVDs, VHS, and DVR players and similar items. Lawn and garden power equipment, such as snow blowers, lawn mowers, rototillers that have drained of fluids are also accepted along with scrap metal such as file cabinets and metal desks.

Items requiring a fee include televisions, $20; console televisions, $25; vacuum cleaners, $10; car seats, $15; alkaline batteries, 98 cents per pound; toners (25 cents per pound; and computer speakers, $10 per pair.

Haverhill partners with Northeast Material Handling, an Ayer-based recycling and reuse company.

Items not accepted include paint, paint thinner, other household hazardous waste materials and florescent bulbs. These items may be delivered to Household Hazardous Waste Day Saturday, Oct. 10. Toy plastics also will not be accepted.
