The public has opportunities to shape policy this week as various Haverhill boards meet. In the interest of transparency in government, WHAV provides this list of upcoming meetings every week.

Stem, an adult-use marijuana retailer in downtown Haverhill, is asking the city to remove conditions that limit the store to appointments only and limit the number of customers per hour.

The business appears before the Haverhill City Council tonight after it says it received no objections from a city panel that was established to review such requests. The panel includes the police chief, fire chief and city engineer. Stem also seeks clarification that it may operate any time between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., but not before noon on Sundays.

Stem opened at the end of May at 124 Washington St., after receiving permission from the state Cannabis Control Commission. It would have opened in April had it not been for coronavirus-related business restrictions. Stem cleared its last city hurdle back in January when it received a city-required parking license. The store is currently limited to 25 customers per hour.

The Haverhill City Council meets both virtually and in person at 7 p.m., at Theodore A. Pelosi, Jr. Council Chambers, room 202, 4 Summer St., Haverhill.
