Progress on completing the new I-495 northbound bridge in Haverhill this week requires various single-lane closures days and single-and double-lane closures at night.

Massachusetts Department of Transportation said single right lane closures take place Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m.-2 p.m., daily, on the northbound side of the highway, between exits 48 and 50. The lane closures are necessary for pier protection barrier work.

In addition, there are overnight lane and shoulder closures both northbound and southbound. These include single and double left lane closures northbound, between exits 48 and 49, Monday through Thursday, Sept.17, from 8 p.m.-5 a.m., the following morning.

Single and double left lane closures take place on the southbound side, between exits 49/50 and 48 Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 8 p.m., to 5 a.m., the following morning.

Where both single and double lane closures are planned, they begin with single lanes at 8 p.m., and transition to double lane closures from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m.

Single right lane closures on the southbound side, between exits 50 and 49, take place Thursday, Sept. 17, from 7 p.m., to 5 a.m., the following morning.

Left shoulder closures take place southbound at the exits 50 and 49 ramp from Monday through Thursday, Sept. 17, from 7 p.m., to 5 a.m., the following morning.

Overnight closures are necessary for guardrail installation, barrier removal and installation and concrete bridge deck placement.
