This year’s pandemic found many people staying at home and cleaning out drawers and closets, but potentially leaving sensitive documents exposed.

The Atkinson Women’s Civic Club, a nonprofit that supports various charities, decided to come to the rescue while raising money at the same time. Club Vice President Eva McDermott said the organization was forced to cancel all of its events this year.

She noted, “Identity theft is a serious issue. You can’t just throw those papers away in the trash. They contain too much identifying information.”

The Club is offering a Bulk Shredding Event Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m.-noon, at Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St., Atkinson, N.H. There is a $10 donation for a box of papers of up to 17 ½ inches by 11 ½ inches by 9 inches, and they will be shredded while you wait. Fees are greater for larger boxes. Social Distancing rules will be followed and masks are required.
