Two teenagers—one from Merrimac and the other from West Newbury—are accused of vandalizing 11 mailboxes in Groveland on Sunday.
Groveland Police Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen said the two 16-year-old boys will be summonsed to court on 11 counts each of malicious destruction of property. The damaged mail boxes were found along Center and King Streets.
Police received a call Sunday morning, just before 7, from a Center Street household saying that family’s and several neighbors’ mailboxes had been vandalized. Later that morning, police said, an officer saw two teenage males walking in the area where mailboxes had been damaged. The teens said they were walking from their friend’s King Street home. As a result, Groveland Police said the officer identified two other teenagers who admitted responsibility for the damage.
Their’ parents were notified to come pick them up from the friends’ home, and they will both be summonsed to appear in court in connection with the property damage.
