Ozzie’s Kids Needs School Supply Donations by Friday—Short Material for 150 Students

Ozzie’s Kids is planning to distribute backpacks with school supplies to Haverhill children, but is short contents for 150 students.

The local charity, founded by late police officer Ozzie Hardy, has completed 340 backpacks, but is asking for donations of such items as pencil cases, markers, highlighters, pens, colored pencils, glue sticks and scissors. Donations are requested by Friday.

The annual back pack giveaway takes place Saturday, Aug. 22, from noon-2 p.m., at Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St. Those picking up backpacks must remain in the cars at Dollar Valley, up the street on Main Street. After showing photo identification and a current bill with a Haverhill address, residents will be directed to parking at City Hall. Those picking up are asked to remain in their cars and to wear masks. There will be a limited number of masks and hand sanitizers for children, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
