Haverhill’s River Bards, a group of local poets with a passion for shining a light on poetry, prose, spoken word and other literary arts, is presenting its fall series entirely online.

Due to the pandemic, readings and open mic will take place via Zoom Friday nights, at 7, from September through November. Zara Raab kicks offs the season Friday, Sept. 11. Her books are “Fracas & Asylum,” “Swimming the Eel,” “The Book of Gretel” and “Rumpelstiltskin.” Raab lives in Amesbury where she is one of the Powow River Poets.

Lee Eric Freedman is the featured poet Friday, Oct. 2. Named as the Renegade Poet Laureate of Swampscott in 2011, Freedman is the leader of the Tin Box Poets of Swampscott workshop groups, hosts open mics, and is the three-time winner of the Naomi Cherkofsky Memorial Poetry Contest.

Friday, Nov. 6 features Bob Whelan, a poet, playwright and essayist who lives from Rockport. He has been published in several anthologies and journals and is a regular at many open mics in Boston and on the North Shore. He organizes and presents the annual Rockport Poetry Festival, and hosts the monthly Rockport Poetry Open Mic.
