The Haverhill City Council Tuesday night approved a change in the location of two polling places currently located at senior housing complexes.
Haverhill City Clerk Linda L. Koutoulas, made the proposal on behalf of the Board of Registrars of Voters because of a need for more room to allow for social distancing in the upcoming primary elections scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1 between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. She identified the two locations to be moved.
“So, we’re moving Ward 1, Precinct 2, which is at the Washington Square Elderly Housing, to the Haverhill Citizens Center on Welcome Street. We’re also moving Ward 7, Precinct 1, from the Greystone Elderly Housing on South Webster Street to the Bradford Elementary School.”
Koutoulas added that she is working with the Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority to provide a couple of hours of shuttle bus service between the old and new locations.
Both of the new locations currently serve as polling places for other precincts and offer more parking.
