A 32-year-old Haverhill woman faces charges of assault and battery on two police officers after kicking one Haverhill patrolman in the face and spitting on another during a Monday melee.
Sherri Anne Jones of Victor Street was also charged with assault and battery on ambulance personnel and disorderly conduct. Police said she was arrested after officers received a request for help with a “combative resident” by the Haverhill Fire Department around 1 p.m., Monday. Firefighters were dispatched to her apartment for a burning pot on the stove.
According to court documents, firefighter Kevin Wincht said Jones had been asked to leave the apartment while smoke was being cleared but, in his words, “she was acting out of control.” He said Jones kicked over a fire department fan. While she was being escorted out by Officers Nicole Donnelly and Michael Mills, the report continues, she spit on Donnelly’s face.
As Jones was taken to a Trinity EMS ambulance where she allegedly kicked the emergency medical technician and Mills. She was taken to Holy Family Hospital for evaluation.
She was arraigned Tuesday in Haverhill District Court, released pending a return to court Aug. 18 for a pre-trial conference.
