The Haverhill office of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles begins drop-off registration and title services next Monday, Aug. 10

Drop off services are limited to vehicle-based registration and title services for both commercial and individual customer transactions, officials said.

“The RMV is excited to pilot and offer this new drop-off service to all of its customers for certain vehicle-based transactions,” said Registrar Jamey Tesler. “Customers in need of one of these vehicle-based transactions can drop-off their paperwork and return to pick it up in just a few business days. This alternative service channel will help meet increased RMV service demands during a time when services are limited by appointment-only due to the need to enforce social-distancing to keep our customers and employees safe.”

Drop-off hours will be between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., at 229c Lincoln Ave., Haverhill.  Registration renewals will still be conducted exclusively online or by mail for individuals. Customers will continue to be able to make appointments for certain registration and title services up to 14 days in advance.

Those taking advantage of drop-off services are asked to compile and complete appropriate paperwork and supply any supporting documents. This includes contacting the insurance agent or company to obtain a completed Registration and Title Application.

A registry door advocate will review paperwork to determine if it’s correctly completed and ask patrons to fill out a coversheet with names, emails and telephone numbers. Customers will not be allowed to wait and should expect a return call or email from the Service Center within a few days.

Transactions are processed in the order received and residents will receive a telephone call or email when their transaction is completed and be instructed to pay online. When complete, residents may return to the Service Center to pick up plates and/or registrations.
