Tina S. Gagnon is July’s artist in residence at the Switchboard, an art space at 43 Washington St. in downtown Haverhill.

Gagnon begins her four-week stay Wednesday, July 1. She is a self-described “hyper-realistic” artist. Using colored pencil as her preferred medium, Gagnon’s drawings are “exercises in intense observation and large measures of patience.” Her subject matter, nature and nostalgia, ranges from flowers and animals to marbles and skeleton keys, all of which come alive after hundreds of hours of work building up layers of color. She has been honored by various juried shows around New England.

Throughout her stay at The Switchboard, Gagnon is offering a variety of free workshops and classes for both children and adults. She will also be hosting “Tina Talks”—unique, personalized artist talks via Zoom where attendees may ask questions about her work and process. The public is invited to a reception of the artist’s work Saturday, July 18, from 6-8 p.m. All programming follows state-mandated COVID-19-prevention protocols.
