The state’s Economic Assistance Coordinating Council Thursday approved Haverhill’s newest food manufacturer, Monogram Food Solutions, for participation in the Economic Development Incentive Program. It also certified the planned Amazon storage and distribution center in North Andover.

The Council’s action provides $925,000 in state investment tax credits. Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini tells WHAV he lobbied by telephone before the state board.

“I sat in on the conference call this morning. It was my pleasure to do so and advocate for Monogram Foods. Three hundred and thirty-four jobs coming to the city right at the time we need them the most. We’re absolutely thrilled,” he says.

The mayor says Monogram’s Chairman and CEO Karl Schledwitz outlined how the jobs will be created. “Some of the jobs will be carried over from their Wilmington facility, but most of them will be brand new jobs. We’ve negotiated in the TIF agreement that Haverhill residents get first choice and we look forward to some Haverhill residents being able to work there.”

Haverhill recently approved a 10-year local property tax break amounting to about $766,286. Monogram Food Solutions was founded in 2004 by acquiring the King Cotton and Circle B brand meats from Sara Lee. The company plans to construct a 135,000 square foot state-of-the-art distribution facility which will include a multi-temperature zone warehouse and 11 pre-made sandwich production lines. Monogram plans to make a private investment of $43.6 million.

The Economic Assistance Coordinating Council also signed off on Amazon’s plans to develop approximately 110 acres of land at 1450 Osgood St. in North Andover. The site will become an ecommerce storage and distribution facility for consumer products and consist of a five-story, approximately 3.8 million square foot facility.

The Project would include the development of the plant and site work, utilities and roadway improvements as well as improvements to parking and loading areas, sidewalks, landscaping and lighting. Amazon intends to hire 1,500 new employees and make an investment of $400 million. North Andover approved a 10-year property tax break valued at approximately $27 million.
