From Hillie Pride Signs to Video Graduation, Haverhill High Class of 2020 Releases Events Calendar

Graduating Haverhill High School seniors and their families are being contacted this week to arrange their walks down the red carpet as part of a virtual graduation ceremony.

The walk is the first of a number of events outlined in a memorandum to all seniors from 2020 Class President Sara Ghias and Haverhill High School Principal Glenn Burns.

“In this plan you will see the thoughtfulness and understanding of the importance of community and family. We have worked hard to gain more student voice than ever in our celebrations, whether, that be during Night of Stars or the day HHS staff hand out Class of 2020 signs. We want to hear from our students and celebrate their successes,” read the joint statement.

Haverhill High staff will assemble Tuesday, May 26, as graduating seniors form a drive-up to collect caps and gowns, regalia and commencement booklets. Students will not be allowed to leave their cars and those without transportation may call the high school Mondays, 8 a.m.-noon, or Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m., to make arrangements.

Wednesday, May 13, 7 p.m., HC Media, Channel 99: “Coffee House,” showcasing musical, comedic and poetic talents of the staff and scholars of Haverhill High School.

Monday, May 18-Friday, May 22: Teachers deliver Hillie Pride yard signs to students.

Thursday, May 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m.: “HHS Family Trivia,” featuring teams of no more than six people. Winning team will have HHS t-shirts mailed to them.

Saturday, May 23, 7 p.m., location to be announced: “HHS Drama Production: Ten Ways to Survive Life in A Quarantine.”

Thursday, May 28, 7-8:30 p.m.: “R. Elaine Croston Poetry Contest,” with cash prizes. The public may view at this link. Participants will receive their own links.

Friday, May 29, 6-8:30 p.m.:            “Night of Stars” as HHS scholars open envelopes live and learn of the scholarships and academic awards they have earned. The public may view at this link. Participants will receive their own links.

Thursday, June 4, 6-8 p.m.: “Senior Reflection Night,” featuring class toasts, senior video and performances. The public may view at this link. Participants will receive their own links.

Friday, June 5, 6-8 p.m.: Graduation. Viewing information and viewing party links to be shared on days leading up to event.

Thursday, Nov. 26, 7:30 a.m., location to be announced: Hillie Breakfast – Class of 2020, in advance of Thanksgiving Football Game against Lowell.

Thursday, June 3, 2021: Class of 2020 Night, with traditional graduation at Haverhill Stadium, bonfire and cookout.
