Pentucket Regional School District, serving Groveland, Merrimac and West Newbury, joined with first responders to have a Teacher Appreciation Parade this past Tuesday. School administrators were joined by members of the Groveland, Merrimac and West Newbury Police and Fire Departments as well as Atlantic Ambulance during the course of the parade. It was held in three segments in each of the district’s towns.

Superintendent Justin Bartholomew said the parade recognized Teacher Appreciation Day, which took place on Tuesday, as well as Teacher Appreciation Week. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, communities are rallying this week to recognize the critical role educators play in the lives of their students and thank them, particularly for their efforts to continue to engage students through remote learning.

“This was a really special effort, and we’re thankful to everyone who participated in this parade,” Bartholomew said, adding, “It was really great to see the community come together, even in these times of social distancing, to spread some joy, show our teachers we appreciate everything they do for our students, and celebrate our Pentucket pride and spirit.”

The parade passed by the homes of teachers that live in each of the three communities, and was also enjoyed by students living in each of the three towns.
