Man’s Body Recovered from Merrimack River in Haverhill; No Foul Play Suspected

A man’s body was recovered from the Merrimack River in Haverhill this morning.

Haverhill Police and Fire responded to a 911 call reporting a body floating in the Merrimack River in the area of Groveland and Water Streets at approximately 11 a.m., confirmed Carrie Kimball, spokeswoman for Essex County District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett.

The person has not yet been positively identified, Kimball said, but foul play is not suspected.

Witnesses said the Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s office responded and Haverhill police detectives were on the scene. As per protocol in the case of unexpected deaths, the Essex State Police Detective Unit responded and is working with Blodgett’s office.
