Democrat Christina Eckert says she will be on the ballot this fall, mounting a second challenge to take the 2nd Essex district House currently held by state Rep. Leonard Mirra.

Eckert came within 324 votes of taking the seat during her first run in 2018. The district includes Boxford, precincts 2 and 3; Georgetown; Groveland; Haverhill, ward 4. precinct 3, and ward 7: precinct 3; Merrimac; Newbury; and West Newbury.

She told WHAV recently she has again recruited Josh Laramie as campaign manager. He is back after a year working on the Cory Booker campaign.

Upon learning about the sewage overflow in the Merrimack River, she said she joined the board of the Merrimack River Watershed Council and soon became the organization’s interim director. She also joined the board of the Boxford Council on Aging and is raising private money to build a new senior center there.
