Haverhill’s Baker-Katz Nursing Home has been free of the coronavirus thanks to careful social distancing and residents will be treated for their sacrifices Thursday.

Nomsa Ncube, the home’s community liaison, says singer Billy Glynn will perform outside at 2 p.m., Thursday. She says Glynn performs a range of soft rock favorites from such artists as Elton John, Billy Joel and even Judy Garland. Keeping the home free of the virus bucks an industry trend. She explains why it was important to bring residents a reward.

“Our residents have been cooped up in this nursing home since the beginning of March and they only see the four corners of their rooms,” she said.

She said the 59 residents have been more than patient. “They have been so good. The residents have been so good, so we just want to make sure we give them something so they don’t feel like they’re just shut out from the world.”
