Buttonwoods Museum Collection Illustrates Haverhill History from Colonial Days to Shoemaking

WHAV’s Community Spotlight is turning its microphones to those civic and charitable organizations that make Greater Haverhill a wonderful place to live.

The Haverhill Historical Society’s Buttonwoods Museum features furniture, ceramics, glassware, quilts, dolls and toys, while illustrating the importance of the Merrimack River in trade, commerce and travel. Collections include Native American artifacts and shoes and shoemaking tools from Haverhill’s heyday as the Queen Slipper City.

During the season, visiting hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
