WHAV’s Community Spotlight is turning its microphones to those civic and charitable organizations that make Greater Haverhill a wonderful place to live.
The Haverhill Firefighting Museum protects the history of firefighting in Haverhill by preserving important innovations and moments that have led to modern firefighting practices. The history of firefighting can be traced as far back as the 2nd Century with the invention of the basic hand pump.
Providing field trips, Sept. 11 memorial and an Adopt-A-Hydrant project, the museum offers opportunities to explore the importance of firefighting and its development in Haverhill and the United States for almost 400 years.
The museum is open Saturday, May 18 through Saturday, Oct. 21 from noon- 4 p.m. Admission is free.
